The Vinegar Valley Express was a rail
car built by the McCloud River Lumber Company. It was built to move
150 Lumberjacks from the small towns of Pondosa and Kinyon to the
work sites. Pondosa and Kinyon are located about fifteen miles from the McCloud Mercantile.
They say it wasn't a pleasant ride
after working all day. One hundred and fifty smelly workers with a
smelly 4 cylinder engine.
The rail car was eventually abandoned
as you can see it in the middle of this photo of the camp town of Kinyon. This is
where the car can still be found although the elements and time haven't' treated
the old car to well and
there isn't much left of
Kinyon.
